Kody's Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies

It is only fitting that I finally get this blog started with one of my all time favorite recipe.
It is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe I have found. Someone brought them to me after I had a baby and I was instantly hooked. Luckily she was nice enough to share the recipe with me. I believe that Kody even made this batch in the picture.

Kody's Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 cup of butter, softened (or 2 sticks)
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1 cup chocolate chips
Cream butter and sugars. Add egg, vanilla and beat for 3 minutes. Add flour, soda and salt. Mix well and then add chocolate chips. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees. You want them light colored.
Yield: approx. 2 dozen. (I usually double the recipe).
*My new favorite is to replace the chocolate chips with M&Ms
*When ever my daughter makes these they never go flat. They stay rounded. We cannot figure out why. They still taste good though.

  1. I love the idea of using the M&M's instead of the chocolate chips!! Thanks for linking to my recipe swap. :)

  2. The M&M's look awesome in there. And who cares if the cookies go flat if they still taste good, right!?!? Aren't friends who bring cookies after babies great!

  3. I love using M&M's in my cookies. Yum Yum. By the way, I hope you stop over to #30 on the list. It says Banana bread but it is homemade marshmallows. Hope you enjoy them.

  4. How much butter is in a cube? I did a search on the Internet, and the most common answer was 2 tablespoons/1oz. Using that quantity, my "dough" wasn't dough at all. I added more butter and some milk and the end result was good, but I'm wondering what I should be doing to get the right consistency.

  5. I am sorry for the confusion!! Thanks for bringing the butter issue to light. I guess I wrote it exactly how it was given to me. i have since fixed it to be correct. One cube is 1/2 cup butter.
