Tried It Out Thursday; Homemade Salad Dressings

I have been craving more than just my usual favorite Ranch dressing for salads lately.  In fact I have been craving salads. Probably why I ended up with the Costco size bag of spinach in my fridge (and I really trying hard to use it all before it goes bad.).  In the past little while I have tried out a couple of different dressing recipes that I really like.  The first one is mine  It is good over all salads, but I really like it over spinach.  We have been adding some parmesan cheese, almonds and craisins to the spinach. Yum.
Sweet Vinaigrette Dressing
2/3 cup oil
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon mustard
1/2 teaspoon onion salt
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon poppy seeds (optional) I forgot it this time and it was still delicious.
Mix well.  Shake before serving.

The next two recipes came from a fabulous blog called The Cutting Back Kitchen. They are both OH SO GOOD!!
Balsamic Vinaigrette
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
2/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese, grated
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Blend ingredients together for just a few seconds.  Shake before serving.

Honey Poppy Seed Vinaigrette
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup honey
2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds
dash of Worcestershire sauce
Put the dressing ingredients in a jar and shake it up. It is best to make it the morning of and let the flavors really come together.

These were all easy to put together and tasted fabulous.  Much better than anything I have bought.
Go check out The Cutting Back Kitchen for lots of delicious recipes, money saving advice and much more.
Thanks Katie!!

  6. Hi, I had to come back. I thought I made the third dressing today but I made the first instead. That one is a winner too.

I must tell you that I used it in an unusual way. Instead of my regular salmon treatments, I put this on the salmon with some pecans and baked it.

I will let you know how it turned out. It just came out of the oven and I am about to take a bite.

Thanks for sharing. You always have the right recipes for me.
