Secret Ingredient Chocolate Chip Cookies

Recently, my friend announced she was sitting on the floor in front of her oven just waiting for the cookies to get done, of course I had to know more! Then she explained that these cookies had a secret ingredient, when I heard it called for bacon I was immediately intrigued! Her family loved them and the neighbors gave them the thumbs up!  My good friend Kim gets all the credit for this  ultimately delicious and clever recipe!!

Secret Ingredient Chocolate Chip Cookies
Good bacon, chopped ( 1 cup diced and cooked well )
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 cup softened butter
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Preheat an oven to 350 degrees
  1. Dice bacon into small pieces and cook on stove until well done, you don't want soft bacon. Drain and let cool, can't be warm.
  2. Beat the sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla extract with an electric mixer in a large bowl until fluffy and smooth.
  3. Mix together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Add to wet mixture, mix
  4. Mix in the chocolate chips and bacon.
  5. Wrap and put in fridge for 30 min
  6. Drop cookies by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Bake for 10 to 11 minutes in the preheated oven
Thanks KIM!!

  1. What a fun recipe. I can totally relate to sitting in front of the oven window waiting for cookies to be done. I am not sure what my family would say to bacon in one of their favorite cookies...I should sneak it in and see what they say! As always, great recipe, Tiffanee!
