I found this recipe years ago in a Family Fun magazine. I have used it ever since. It is easy, light and tasty.
Pizza Dough
1 cup warm water1 teaspoon sugar
2 1/4 tsp. yeast
3 Tablespoons olive oil
2 1/2 -3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
Place the water in mixing bowl. Stir in yeast and sugar. Let the yeast "proof " for 10 minutes.
Then stir in olive oil, salt and 2 cups flour. Mix adding the rest of the flour until the dough forms a ball. Knead the dough with the mixer and dough hook (or by hand) for 10 minutes or until it is smooth and elastic.
Place dough in a greased large glass bowl. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap. (grease the middle of the plastic wrap so the dough won't stick.) Let the dough rise in a warm place until it has doubled in bulk. About 1 1/2 hours.
For pizza:
Shape the dough into the size of pizza you want. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and bake crust for 5-10 minutes, depending on the size. Bake unti it has set up but not browned. Take out of oven and top with desired toppings. Bake for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
*The recipe states this dough can be used for pizza, breadsticks, calzones or even focaccia
Do you freeze this also? if so what is the best way too. Thanks
